Main melee weapon of the Lupercalia. All non-mage Lupercalia shifters are trained in the use of this weapon and for many it is the focus of their study.
Training with this weapon begins at age 15, training with plain battelaxes up until this point, and focuses initially on understanding the flame within the weapon and how to bring it out when the shifter needs it. When this happens the weapon’s blade is magically set on fire and burns the air around it. An additional blast of flame is generated when the shifter’s rage reaches a critical point.
The battleaxes used by longtooth shifters are identifiable by the clan’s ancient mark. Even the elders do not know the exact origins of the mark, but it is known that it was present at the clan’s founding and has been passed down ever since.
Almost all of the clan’s axes have been either extinguished or thrown in the sea, feared by the hobgoblins that slaughtered the tribe in the first place.
One axe currently lies in Ignis’ hands, discovered while defending of a human village from a raid during his wandering years, he lost his battleaxe in the fighting and came upon the village’s weapon cache, discovering the weapon and slaughtering both sides of combatants in a tide of fire.
